Are we facing a shortage of Certified Nurse Aides?

We are aware that the health and especially the long-term care system relies heavily on the services of nurses and nursing aides, which are the two largest groups of health care workers in the United States. There is a current shortage of certified nurse aides in Indiana and many factors have led to this CNA shortage. The shortage is expected to become even more serious as the United States population is aging and retention of certified nursing aides is a common problem faced by many employers. Annual turnover rates in long term care facilities throughout Indiana are approaching 100% according to a study performed by the Institute of Medicine (IOM).
