Kokomo Area Career Center

The Kokomo Career Center has been offering a variety of courses to students interested in the healthcare field. One of this courses leads to certification as a nursing assistant and the opportunity to gain employment immediately upon graduation. The program, offered mainly to High School students, is only two semesters long and will prepare you for an entry-level position in a nursing home, a hospital, or a long-term care facility. The training will be conducted by registered nurses and overall you will have 75 hours of hands-on client care.

The nurse aide program can be completed while you are still in High School, therefore upon graduation you will receive a High School diploma and a technical certificate. This will enable you to sit for the state examination and become state certified as a nursing assistant in Indiana. No cost is required to cover tuition or books for students enrolled in this program. Kokomo graduates have taken advantage of the new skills and work experience gained throughout the course of the nurse aide program to obtain challenging careers in the health care industry and to pursue a college education.

Are you a high school student looking to obtain the education for a career in health care? The certified nurse aide program offered by the Area 30 Career Center might be just what you are looking for. High School juniors and seniors will earn six High School credits upon completion of this program as well as the knowledge and skills which will guarantee employment right after graduation. The nurse aide program can be completed during two semesters with classes being held in the afternoons and no prerequisite courses necessary for admission.

The school uses laboratory and hospital practice to provide the best clinical training for students. Classroom instruction will focus on gaining knowledge about the human body and essential skills to provide basic nursing care to patients in hospitals, assisted care facilities and nursing homes. Students enrolled in the Cloverdale, Eminence, Greencastle, North Putnam, Owen Valley, or South Putnam High Schools do not need to pay tuition for the nurse aide career training program. All those interested to apply and start attending the nurse aide course at the Area 30 Career Center should contact a High School counselor for the necessary admission forms.
